later gators!

Sunday, April 4th, 2004

We’re out of here bright and early tomorrow morning, so…
Today’s list:

  • Sleep in because we lost an hour and I really need that hour we lost
  • Watch The Weather Channel to make sure Sunny California will be Sunny
  • Only to discover it is supposed to snow here tonight!
  • Rethink “layering” strategy for tomorrow- how to stay warm in Newark and not be stuck with winter coats in LA
  • Wish Andy luck in the regional bowling tournament as he leaves
  • Ignore mommy guilt for not going to watch
  • Do one last load of laundry and throw away food that won’t last a week alone at home
  • Print out boarding passes
  • Reconfirm rental car and hotel
  • Gather Important Travel Documents in one place
  • Finish packing
  • Realize I’m going to see rarely seen relatives and even Mickey Mouse in the next few days (yay!)
  • Say “see ya real soon!” to all my internet buds
  • Turn off the internet

Keep an eye on my moblog for updates from the road!

Delivering the dog

Saturday, April 3rd, 2004

I drove the doggie up to my parents’ house today, where she’ll be vacationing while we’re away. She started whimpering as soon as we got three streets away, knew just where we were going. I know she’ll be spoiled rotten up there, I’m so glad they take her for us.

Got to get back to packing- almost done!

No Water!

Thursday, April 1st, 2004

I was in the middle of taking a shower and the water slowed to a trickle. Eek! I managed to get the shampoo rinsed out at least! Called Mr. Fixit and he walked me through getting the well pump running again, which consisted of flipping the switch on and off a couple times and finally just jiggling the box to the pressure gage.

The list of little electrical things that have to be fixed around here:

  • The dimmer switch in the dining room that takes three hits to go on
  • The fluorescent light in the bathroom that leaves you in the dark for 30 seconds before kicking in

and now add

  • The pump pressure thingie.

I’m going to give this a shot. Not sure how soon I’ll get it done, but it looks like good fun.

Try it yourself!

Howard!

Thursday, April 1st, 2004

I’m not a huge Howard Stern fan but I fully support him in his fight against the FCC. I have an off button on my radio and I actually know how to use it.

This morning Howard pulled a great prank. He went off the air for over an hour complete with announcements about why the station had to pull him, and a very cheesy replacement show with the motto “Fun without the Filth”. Many were fooled.

He made an excellent point. You let the government decide what does and does not belong on the air and you end up with a radio with nothing but crappy cheesy djs and Clay Aiken songs. Radio already sucks, I really miss the days of independant djs. Radio during the 1970s was the center of my world. Now I barely turn it on except for the news.
