PTA PTO Mom stuff

So tomorrow is the big day, the teacher appreciation luncheon that I’ve helped organize the past few years. I’m running the show for one school, my friend S is doing the other. This will be my last year organizing. A few reasons for that…

First and foremost, I never really volunteered to do this in the first place! S offered to do it, and she convinced me to come along for the ride. Second, I am so not detail oriented enough for this kind of thing. S loves getting all Martha about the theme of the year (Italian this year.) We have to have themed desserts, themed music, themed flowers, etc. Which is all lovely and fine and wonderful, except my brain doesn’t work that way. When I have a party chances are it’s paper plates and easy to fix stuff to eat I bought at the warehouse store. It’s the people more than that atmosphere that matters to me I guess.

But for something like this, the details do matter, because, well, the teachers eat lunch together everyday, so we need to make this lunch special. It’s not really a luncheon, anyway, we just cater in the food and make it all nice for them to eat during their normal lunch breaks. So the details make a difference. I’m just not the one to figure it all out!

Anyway, I’ve got all my shit together, I have a couple people coming to help me, and as long as the caterer shows up on time and with enough food, everything should go nice and smoothly, and I can say I did my PTO duty for the year.

Guess I need to come up with another project for next year. I do the web page, and I want to pump that up a bit over the summer. Is that enough, ya think?

Yup, the web page is enough! I love the idea of “all Martha” as an adjective. A dear friend of mine who’s very good at that kind of thing is really named Martha–and even has a sister named Mary (different reference, I know, but they both fit!)
