I did it!

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

I finally cleaned the kitchen today. A deep scrubbing, in fact. I actually went down on my knees with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser in hand to get the corners of the floor clean. I wiped down the chairs, cleaned inside the microwave. The only thing I didn’t do was clean the oven because, well, I did that two weeks ago and haven’t been cooking all that much.

And after I’m done here I might just grab another Magic Eraser and get that bathtub cleaned out.

Whoever invented that thing deserves a prize of some sort.

Ugly web sites

Monday, August 30th, 2004

I just checked a website for an organization I’m involved in. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry . But I do know that I’m not going to say anything negative about it to the group because the designer seems kinda proud of his creation, plus I might end up with the job and I really don’t want it right now (I did a basic site for this group once and found it nearly impossible to keep it up to date due to a communication breakdown.)

It’s supposed to be a major resource for at least 50 people. It won’t be if it looks and works (or doesn’t work) like this.

If it’s not better in a month I’ll have to say something, but I’ll be shocked if someone else doesn’t comment first.

(Sorry, no link, you’ll have to take my word on this one.)

Thanks to Atypical Female for linking to a cool plug-in for Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. I used it to make this great pic of Nick, click to really see it!

Eek! My server is moving!

Friday, August 27th, 2004

If you’re tempted to reply to one of this posts, please refrain for now- I just got word I’m being moved to a new server and your comment might just disappear into the void.

Hopefully it will be nothing worse than that.

drop down, babee

Those paying close attention may notice I added a couple more scripty goddess helpers, “show more” and drop down comments. I just think they make the blogging experience that much more pleasant :curtsey:, and I missed having them from my Movable Type days. Need to pretty things up a bit but that can wait.

Lazy

Friday, August 27th, 2004

The end of summer is creeping up on us. I wish it would sprint, or at least break into a jog. These kids are Timmy is running out of things to do. Driving me nuts. The weather has been awful, so while I’ve been tempted to go to the pool it would be just as bad there, because he’d complain the whole time. He’s tired of his toys, sick of watching Sponge Bob (can you imagine??)

And, imperfect momma that I am, I just don’t feel like being Julie the cruise director anymore. I don’t want to play a board game, I don’t want to go through the list of toys and make the kid choose one, I don’t want to set up a playdate, I just want him to go and play. So I can sit her guiltlessly and be lazy, dammit!

Five days till school!!

Tile

Tuesday, August 24th, 2004

I took Tim out shopping for new shoes (light up Hot Wheels sneaks. Whee!) and school supplies (I think I figured out what an “8″ x 11″ plastic reusable envelope” is.) Phone was ringing as I was bringing in the bags from the car, it was Rocco the tile guy. He said he was sending his guys over to finish up right then ! I gave him a hard time at first (I was expecting a bit more notice!) but in the end I realized that if they didn’t do it today who knows how much longer I’d have to wait. So they’re installing the trim tile, grouting the floor and caulking. I’m going to go check on them right now
