I’ve been crushin’ on the guitarist for Los Lonely Boys for awhile now, since I caught them on Austin City Limits months back. Saw them on GMA this morning and said crush was re-ignited. Is it the hair? The hot bod? Well, yeah, but most of all, it’s the guitar. Oh my gawd, when he plays that guitar **swoon**.

Thursday, January 27th, 2005Yet another thing that sucks about getting old
Wednesday, January 26th, 2005I’ve got about 20 minutes till I’m supposed to be at the eye doctor. No rush, the office is right around the corner, literally. One of the cool things about living in NJ is that everything is close by. I rarely have to drive more than 15 minute to get anywhere. On the down side, when I do have to drive more than 15 minutes I grumble the entire way.
I’m thinking I might need a new prescription for my contacts. I hate that my eyesight is getting worse. I actually have to use reading glasses, and, Lazy Bitch that I am, I now have a pair in every room of the house, and of course one in my bag, so I never have to go looking for them when I want to read something. I even have a pair in the bathroom. Is that pathetic? They’re all the cheapo supermarket kind. The ones I keep in the bathroom are actually a men’s style, but they do the job.
And when my cousin Peg found out I need reading glasses she laughed. Hmph. Ah, Peg, enjoy your youth (she’s a year older than me but hasn’t lost as many braincells, so I chalk up my earlier lack of eye elasticity to that .)
So I’ll go to the eye doctor and complain about the fact that they don’t take my insurance so I have to do all the paperwork myself (that would be LB rearing her head again), and hear that I need a stronger prescription, and then, when I’m all bummed, I have to run to the store and restock the tiny list of foods I can eat till I finish Phase one of the South Beach Diet. Thank God for nuts and avocados. I’ll be safe if I stay far far away from the bakery section.
Guess I should mosey on ’round the corner.
My how time flies
Wednesday, January 26th, 2005Check out this Apple Macintosh ad by Matt Groening from 1989, which really wasn’t all that long ago… (link via BoingBoing.)
The kicker is the financing page with the price- $3500! For a fancy word processor! No wonder we didn’t get a computer for 5 more years.
Family = Fun

I was looking through some photos and found this shot Pat took of our family Christmas party at a restaurant in CT last month. Doesn’t it look like a great party?
It was.
More fun with other people’s blogs
Tuesday, January 25th, 2005I just finished up with Michele’s first blog scavenger hunt. That was fun, and challenging! There’s still time to play this round, and more rounds are coming up. I found a blog or four I might just have to visit more often!
Say hi!
Tuesday, January 25th, 2005I’ve given a bunch of my CG (the message board I “work” and play at) pals the link to this blog!
I don’t want it to look like I’m a total loser with no readers, I want to impress these people curtsey: . So if you’re reading this, drop a comment please and say hi to them. Thanks!
The DS
Tuesday, January 25th, 2005Cat asked in response to my previous thrilling post whether the Nintendo DS had arrived for Nick. Yes! It has! He’s a happy camper right now. I haven’t checked it out myself yet but it looks pretty cool.
In order to get one for him without paying a premium on ebay I had to order it with a bundle from Amazon. It came with a silver case that looks like it belongs to Maxwell Smart, a game (Spiderman) and a bunch of accessories. I figured if I was going to spend over $200 for the game it was well worth it to get some extra stuff.
But of course this threw the whole attempt at equal Christmas gift value for the three kids right out the window.
