RambR-A-M-B-L-I-N apostrophe, oh yes, I’m ramblin’*

What a weekend. Crazy Saturday, nuttin much Sunday, though. Had the Cub Scout Blue & Gold dinner (actually lunch) on Sat. Chaos ensued when it turned out the catering contract was for $14/person, not the $7/person we’d been led to believe (and based the whole budget on.) Major screw-up but the people that screwed up don’t really care much so…

But hey, the food was really good. Much better than necessary for such an event, IMO. Kids took tons and then trashed said tons. Lotsa waste there.

A magician was hired, I missed most of his show but hear the kiddos loved it, so money well spent. A Tae Kwon Do demo was held- for free, thankfully- but all it did was make the whole thing last 45 minutes longer than it needed to, and serve as advertising for the Master. Not thrilled with the whole concept, but I wasn’t on the committee.

I repeat, I wasn’t on the committee. All bitchin’ & moanin’ is strictly venting and I realize that if I want things different I should be on the committee.

Not gonna happen.

Also Saturday was the thrill of SAT day for Andy, finally. I have no idea what he thought of the new test, so don’t ask me. I do know that he seemed a bit stressed leading up to and seems a bit less stressed now. The annoying part is once we finally get the scores- we have no idea what they’ll mean. Colleges have made it very clear that all SAT acceptance info from previous years is no longer valid- scores overall may go up, may go down, may do the electric slide- no one knows. So we just cross our fingers and hope that GPA is the main factor- because Andy’s got a great GPA. So far.

Saturday night involved chilling out and I think I watched a movie? What movie I have no idea. Hmm- maybe I just watched whatever was on E!. Woke up Sunday am, Pat took Nick and his buddy Mickey to a Boy Scout / Lions Club pancake breakfast thing (is this my life?) and Andy and Tim and himself to CCD (yep.) I got on the treadmill and walked/ran/walked/ran for half an hour. Felt very good. Then I had a brownie leftover from the B&G, but it was a well deserved brownie.

Nick & Mick came back and hung out here, Andy messed with his opening day fantasy baseball lineups, and Pat and Tim went off to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. I sat here and read the papers, then went through the Big Ass household todo list and sorted through it. Re-ordered it. In fact right now I should either be at Home Depot buying paint or calling basement waterproofers to schedule estimates. I’ll get to them both.

Heh, this thing reads like I’m on ritalin. I’m not, honestly. Just caffeine. I don’t even know where I’d get ritalin. Not that I’d take it, I’m just sayin’.

I woke today up planning to be sick (had a headache and a stuffy nose) but decided that was a stupid plan so I did 20 minutes of Pilates instead. Those leg kick things are killers! But I did the rest with no problems. In fact I feel so good I might do the treadmill later. But probably not. I’m not that nutso. Besides, I do need to go measure the closet and figure out what I need from Home Depot to organize it. Then I need to convince Pat to go with me tonight to pick everything up. Also, I need to decide what color to paint the closet. I know white is the obvious choice, but so boring. I can do any color I want in there, because who sees it but us? Thoughts?

*thank you steve martin

My favorite closet? It was in my mother-in-laws old house. It was wallpapered in wild stripes! I’ve never seen another closet like that. I don’t know why not…when you think about it, who DOES see the inside of the closet? Usually only the people who live there. Why not have fun with it?!

  2. If you find that ritalin, let me know, will ya? Never occurred to me to paint a closet. I’ve painted three of the bedrooms here a total of 6 times, and the closets are till the same off-white they were when we moved in 15 years ago.

The best closet I ever saw was a walk-in with cedar panelling!
