It looks like a snowglobe outside.

A dreary, brown, messy, ugly snowglobe.

The fact that the amazon order with all my cool new stuff arrived today doesn’t negate the fact that the weather today was horrid and I really do need to get an all wheel drive vehicle in case I need to rescue my son from the far and distant HS if they decide not to run buses. I was supposed to help in Tim’s class today but the roads were so bad that I pretty much just grabbed him and ran (I did put in about 15 minutes because his teacher just seemed so happy to see me- but I had to get out of there when someone came in and said roads were closing.) Called the MS so they’d have Nick ready and waiting for me to grab and bring home, too. Andy’s bus arrived about 20 minutes late, and they did in fact decide not to run the ES and MS bus routes, so I was very glad I got the kids early!

The wind out there right now is downright frightful :horror: ! The snow stopped hours ago but the wind has been whipping it up. I’m glad the PTO meeting and Nick’s CCD class were cancelled.
Instead I’m happily organizing my photos with Photoshop Elements (until a giant branch comes down and knocks out the power.)

Hmm, sorry, seems I’m having a glass-half-empty kinda day.

Phew.

Yes, apparently I’ve lost the U2 tickets. I had them right next to my desk- but at some point they stopped being there. I don’t know when they disappeared- I imagine it was probably during the HELOC application chaos when I had tons of envelope piles- they probably ended up at the bottom of one of those piles, which have since been cleaned out and mostly tossed. I could have put them somewhere safe- but I checked all my “safe” places, and they’re not there.

So I did call Ticketmaster, and they told me that if they haven’t turned up within 2 days of the event (which would be on May 17) I should call back, and once they’ve verified my info (thank goodness I have the receipt!) they’ll let me in with a voucher I can pick up at the will call window the night of the show. PITA, but at least we’ll get in!

I can’t imagine how I’d tell Nick if I couldn’t get us in to the show. Bad mama!

Has anyone ever had lost tickets replaced by Ticketmaster? Do they do that?

I’m just askin’…

Snow day

Tuesday, March 1st, 2005

It would be beautiful outside (pics on the moblog) if this was December, or even January or early February. But it’s March, and I’m sooo sick of the snow. Especially because it means that once again the kids are home from school. I woke up this morning to a horrifying scream. Nick had refused to give Tim a blanket because “he never asked nicely.” And Tim screeched in response. And I banished them to the basement. Ha.

At least I don’t have to go anywhere today. Everything on my schedule is school related, thus cancelled. I’m going to jump on the treadmill, maybe get back to digging through my old photo albums with the kid’s help. I’ve been sorting through them and pulling out pictures I think are worth scanning. Amazing how many pictures there are in the albums (I have 25 huge albums plus two boxes that weren’t put in albums yet, all from before we went digital almost two years ago) yet how few photos I think are real keepers. That doesn’t speak very highly of either my photographic abilities or the quality of our cameras over the years, does it?

On the other hand, I recently watched hours of old videos from 1995-2002, hoping to note which parts are worth transferring to digital. I really couldn’t find much to leave out! It’s quite an experience watching your kids grow up again before your eyes like that. More than ever it makes me realize how short my time with them really is. Seeing Nick at age 2 announcing to the camera “It’s me, Nicky!” and proudly displaying his favorite Hot Wheels, then looking at him now, at age 12, still just as fascinated with cars, still with favorite Hot Wheels, and planning to be an automotive engineer and someday have his own automotive manufacturing company… wow. Just wow.
