No more cluttering the net for awhile

Andy & Donna
Pat & Annie

It seems like I’ve been doing one major project after another. I need to get away from the computer for awhile! The last two days were absolutely beautiful, and I was stuck inside redoing the crashed PTO site. At least it’s done (and even I was impressed by how quickly I got it going, considering I switched from the PostNuke system to Mambo, which I’d never used before.) Today I need to add a little content since we had a meeting last night, but then I’m taking a break for awhile. I want to add nothing to the internet but blog entries, comments, and maybe a few photos to Flickr.

In fact, here are a couple photos now. The first is Andy with his cousin Donna this past Saturday, the second is a rare flattering shot of myself with Pat.

Vacation happy to get away… but where?

Where should we go on vacation? Pat and I haven’t really spend a lot of time talking about this yet, but I think we need to make some decisions. We’d be traveling between 8/12 & 9/12, since Andy is working up till then, and school starts late this year. I have a few ideas…

  • Walt Disney World. Drive down, stay 5 or 6 days.
  • Jersey shore. If we went down the shore we’d go after Labor day for the cheaper rates, and the smaller crowds. Late summer is the best time to go IMO.
  • Baltimore. We went for a long weekend when Nick was around 2 I think- had a great time. Might be time for a return visit.
  • Washington DC. Same as above, except the last time we were there Nick was 4. Tim’s been to neither place.
  • Westward… to Ohio? I’d love to go to Cleveland to the RnR Hall of Fame. We could go to Cedar Point amusement park, which I’ve heard great things about.

I guess that’s enough to choose from, right? Since we may be looking at a few schools for Andy in PA, we could hit them on the drive to Ohio. Likewise, he’s interested in a school or two in the Maryland/DC area.

Sadly I’m afraid a week at the beach would bore Andy & Tim (Nick can entertain himself anywhere.) Likewise, I really don’t think Andy or Pat have any interest in visiting WDW, but the two of them are gung ho on seeing a Washington Nationals game this summer.

I know! A long weekend down to Washington DC, PLUS a road trip to visit Mickey!

crash

Monday, May 9th, 2005

I own, set up, and am the admin for the website for our school PTO. Went to update it the other day, and imagine my surprise when it was GONE! As far as I can tell it crashed a couple weeks ago, about a week after I last updated it. I really don’t know what happened, but I was using the PostNuke CMS and it was corrupted somehow. I don’t begin to have a clue how to troubleshoot- so I just NUKED the PostNuke and now I’m looking at other options.

What I really liked about PostNuke was the calendar component I added to it. Really, I’d love to find a stand alone calendar using php, or a CMS with a calendar built right in, but it seems like I’m back where I was a year ago :bangwall: .

But I’m not going to go crazy rushing around to fix it. I think the same three people look at it every month anyway!

VICTIMS, I tell ya!

(click to read)

This is my new favorite comic. If you haven’t found Clear Blue Water yet, please, spend some time getting to know it. Especially if you’re a parent.

This is a typical strip- and oh, the memories it brought up!

It’s done!

I’ve been helping Bluegrass Mama with her new skin, new blog (from Blogger to WordPress) and move to a new server… and it’s done! Go check it out and say hi.

I need a nap.

You know, wordpress people, adapting a theme from version 1.2 to version 1.5 is not as easy as you say it is. Sheesh :playnice: .

Popup comments sorta work, but I’m too much of a perfectionist to use them till they work the way I want them to work damnit, so for now they’re off. Have some plugins to update as well, but I’m leaving well enough alone until a certain other project is finished up, I was craaaazy to do this now!

Slowly de-bugging

Got the permalink issue figured out. It looks like the rest of my problems are theme related, comments specifically. I know I’ll be able to get it all straightened out, but I simply don’t have the time at the moment.

And so, I leave you for now with the lovely WP 1.5 default theme, not as cute as my daisy theme but definitely in working order.
