They deserve their fate!

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

Those ugly little white clover flowers must see the lawnmower coming and duck so they won’t get their heads chopped off. Which means my “lawn” (term used loosely) is a haven for bees, which frightens my son from playing on it.

But, ugly little white clover flowers, beware. Weed killer will be applied, and from this you cannot hide.

Bwahahaha!

Bloody graduates and other things

Friday, June 24th, 2005

Well, I have a loooong list of what not to do for next year’s Project Graduation!

In defense of this year’s organizers- our school schedule changed and they had to give up the traditional location (Rutgers U) and hold it at a Hilton instead. The Hilton did most of the planning- they hold these for many schools- and it was really just not enough to keep the kids entertained. Although the food was good.

Number one stupid thing that will not be back- a bounce house with those oversize boxing gloves. While they’re supposed to wear protective helmets, of course they don’t, and two boys ended up needing stitches in their heads due to flying jewelry slicing them open. Quite gory, but no serious damage. The vender was cleaning out the blood with water and paper towels, then planning to re-open, but we nixed that quick (the blood was splattered everywhere, too!)

I got about 2 hours of sleep when I got home, then crashed around 6pm and slept all night. Glad I don’t have to do that again for awhile! But when Nick gets to HS, I’ll do it again- I met some really nice people, and the kids were by far polite and respectful (except for a couple smokers on our bus… )

Now fully recovered, I’m trying to get into a summertime routine. I do not want to go see Herbie at the movies- and I do not want to go to the carnival that’s in town tonight. But I think I may have to cave on one or the other.

No sleep…

Yes, I’ve been gone awhile. I think it will be some time before I’m back to posting regularly! But I’ll get here when I can. Meanwhile…

In about half and hour I’m heading to the HS to help chaperone Grad Night (my son’s a junior- senior parents aren’t allowed to chaperone.) The kids are being bussed to a hotel half an hour away and locked in till around 5:30am. I’ve been resting up all day, already downed one cup of coffee and I’m about to pour number two.

I’m not so worried about staying awake- more worried about driving the kids around in the morning- I’ll try to grab a couple hours of sleep when I come home but I have to get Tim & Nick to camp by 9, told Andy I’d take him to meet up with some friends at 10, then it’s pick up at camp and a swim lesson for Tim- hopefully Andy will get a ride home and I’ll be able to zonk out by early afternoon. It’s been many, many, many years since I pulled an allnighter.

Wish me luck!

Reasons I’m not blogging

Saturday, June 11th, 2005
  • Bad internet
  • Painting bedroom
  • Feeling stressed because all my STUFF is EVERYWHERE instead of in the bedroom being painted
  • Still bad internet (cable mimics dialup)
  • School’s out for 2 kids
  • WDW planning (when internet is not being bad)
  • It’s too damn hot
  • I need to bake a cake
  • etc

Go ahead and laugh but I saved $600!

I’m not blogging because I’m DISing. Planning our trip to WDW this September. I’m just a little obsessive, but for me it’s a fun and relaxing way to pass the time. Plus it pays- in a way. I found out about a fantastic deal they’re offering the night before it was released to the public, and grabbed it- so we’re eating free that week. I even worked up pricing for a friend headed down around the same time- not sure if she’s booked it yet, though.

So, I get teased a bit- but I do love the planning. Deciding where to stay, eat, which rides are worth waiting for and which are skippable. And this will be two trips within two months- I’m in overplanner heaven :yay: .

Hurry up, ‘net!

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005

Grr, it’s so irritating when the internet gets slow on me! I visit approximately one bajillion internet boards (ok, four or five) & quite a few blogs, and when everything goes smoothly I can zip through them pretty quickly. But today it’s been sheer torture watching that stoopid loading… blinking thing in Firefox, mostly because there’s a(nother) fight going on at a site I visit and I wanna watch (I’m such a voyeur.) (and no I won’t tell you the site- at least not here…)

In other news… had lunch with Pat today. He’s been so busy :bummed: . Tonight he’s selling 50/50s at the church carnival, and he has a 6am flight to San Antonio tomorrow. Only a quick trip - he’ll be back sometime Friday (depends on how well the visit goes.) So it was nice to spend some time together. Had a french dip, I haven’t had one of those in years, mmm.
