Pain in the…

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

Ok, I think I got the flickr thing the way I like it. I’ve been working on a new theme, and I’m going to upgrade to WP 2.0.1 (or whatever it is by the time I get around to it. )

Yesterday I slipped on the ice in front of my house and landed flat on my back. My head slammed into the ground but my jacket hood flew up and cushioned my fall, so things could be worse. But I’m really sore today- my neck is so achy I had to actually use my hands to lift my head off the pillow this morning! On top of that I’ve developed a killer cold, so my neck hurts inside and out (sore throat.)

So the house is a disaster and nothing is getting done outside of the bare minimum. Pat’s been enormously helpful though. At least I’m getting this WordPress updating done, I’ve been putting it off and now just want to put it behind me!

It’s been one of those weeks. Right now I have only one big goal- make next week better than this one was!

‘nother one

Tim’s birthday was Sunday.

It’s gone now.

This is what the yard looked like Monday morning. Soon after this the kids messed it up, and now it’s mostly melted away after two days in the 50s.

(if this post/photo look odd at any time it’s because I’m ajusting my flickr settings!)

Cheered up

I have the best friends.

Just sayin’.

Music is good for the soul

I never did get to that meeting last night. Wasn’t feeling up to driving over there- they didn’t really need me there, just the numbers I had, so I emailed them over along with my cell number for questions (which there were, so maybe I should have gone after all. )

Feh. I really felt lousy, but feel ok today- seems to be a pattern. I need to get myself out of this funk I’ve been in- need to eat better, workout, do something really fun.

I’m sick of winter. I’m feeling about 10 years older than I did six months ago (what is up with that?)

The whole point of this big organizing kick I went on was to free my up to do fun stuff. So why do still feel like I have too many little annoying things to do to enjoy myself? The smallest little chore feels oppressive. I find myself doing busywork instead of fun things. I really don’t need to pay bills today- the ones I have aren’t due for awhile and I have them scheduled to be paid after the next paycheck. So why am I sitting here with Quicken open? No good reason.

So I opened iTunes and found a bunch of new songs to grab (oh, the new Michael Stipe & Chris Martin In the Sun is amazing, and LISA- I bought a “country” song! Keith Urban (if he’s country I’m a 90 year old black woman…) I saw him on the Grammy’s last night and thought, you know, this is really like the stuff I loved as a teen- Eagles, Jackson Browne.

So now I’ve got the weirdest mix playing. Country, pop, emo, rock, alt. Fall Out Boy to Kelly Clarkson to Audioslave. I’m still not doing anything, really, but the soundtrack is really good.
And I feel a lot better.

Nice house…

I’m going to a meeting tonight at this house :

(isn’t Google Maps fun?)

I’d really like to host one of these meetings, but damn, my house probably isn’t as nice as this house’s garage!

I’m glad we’re finally going to fix it up. We’ve been putting off maintenance for awhile while planning our addition, and, well, you can tell. I don’t mind living in a smallish house, in fact I prefer it, I just can’t see myself living in (and taking care of!) one of those huge McMansions! But I’m anxious to purdy up this place, make it a home to be proud of instead of a place that’s been ransacked by three boys for almost ten years.

I think I’m going to run around and take a bunch of “before” pictures. Now that we’ve finally decided on the type of addition we’re going to build, things should start improving quickly. I’m excited!
