We might be getting a Mustang, that would be pretty cool! It’s a 2000, but apparently in good shape with very low milage.
We had one back in olden days, a white ‘83. That was a horrible year for Mustangs, but it was a convertible. It had a “white” top that was filthy and impossible to clean, but in the summer with the top down it was very much fun . We were in our early 20s, no kids- it was perfect for us. We bought it with our wedding cash in 1986, and it lasted about 3 years, multiple road trips, and more than it’s share of bang-ups .
We sold it when I was pregnant with Andy (not about to put an infant seat in the back with the top down, and with the top up, it was a pretty crappy car.) It was heading downhill by then anyway, and needed engine work. Pat sold it to one of the ubiquitous used car dealers on Rt. 46 for $1000. The guy gave him cash without even checking it out (if he had he would have noticed the exhaust coming out of the engine compartment.)
Pat headed down the road to a pay phone and called me to come pick him up “quick” before the guy realized what he got for his money!
So it would be fun to drive one again, even if only temporarily. The “plan” is that we’ll be the short-term custodians and Andy will take it over in a year or so. Of course, he may have to pry the keys out of my hands.
Pat’s checking it out on Friday. We’re doing the single car shuffle for now.
I’m carless today. Pat’s car officially gave up the ghost on Friday. We knew it was coming, just hoped it would hold out a bit longer to give us time to find a replacement. But as he was leaving his office- still in the parking lot- the front left wheel stopped turning. The front end & steering of that car have been giving him fits for years, and this time it’s just done. Not worth pouring another penny into it.
A few forutunate things. Pat’s been talking to a co-worker about buying a car from him, so hopefully that sale will go through in the next day or so. The car died in the lot, with no kids in the car, as opposed to on a highway at 65mph. Pat’s office is only about 15 minutes away, so I was able to go get him and if I need a car this week (and I do need one tomorrow) I’ll drive him in and pick him up. Of course, he spends a good deal of time on the road visiting clients so that plan won’t work for long.
If you know anyone in the market for Chrysler Sebring parts, let me know!
Lately I’ve had all kinds of wonderful ideas to blog about. Usually just as I’m falling asleep at night, unfortunately.
So please forgive the lack of content, and I’ll try to make it up to you at some point, all three or four of you who are sticking with me, anyway!
Just when I was convinced that Andy was going to head to Ramapo in the fall… I just got the mail and there’s a fat (well, not that fat, but tall…) envelope from Andy’s reach school, TCNJ :woohoo:.
He won’t be home for an hour, I can’t wait to see his face- he has himself convinced he’s not getting admitted. Honestly, I really didn’t think he would, either, because it’s just a really tough school to get into.
For those of you who don’t know what TCNJ is, it’s the College of New Jersey, a state school. Rutgers is typically held up as the top public school in NJ, but TCNJ has a more elite feel to it. The campus is compact & suburban, they have small classes and no TA’s. It’s real Ivy feeling, which explains why it’s so hard to get into- the top students in the state, the ones who apply to the Ivies, often also apply to TCNJ, since it costs tens of thousands of dollars less to attend. So the competition is fierce. We were told by a number of people that for a kid from NJ the chances of getting into TCNJ are similar to getting into Princeton. I don’t know how exaggerated that might be, but the fact is- its tough.
So I guess a road trip is in order (a short one, the campus is about 30 minutes away.) And now the boy has a tough choice to make.
Glad I’m not him!
I’ve got 16 years’ worth of baby and kid stuff in my house. Some of it is still shrink-wrapped. Most of it is in great shape. Baby gear, toddler stuff, toys & games galore.
I also have 20 years worth of household stuff, again, some new in the box (mostly gifts…) I was going to have a huge yard sale for all of it, but there’s so much baby & kid stuff (and this isn’t all of it, lots more still to bring up to the garage from the basement storage!) that I’m going to have two sales, the first one Kid Stuff Only.
I’ll let you know when I have a date!
I had such an awesome week last week! It didn’t start out so hot- I tried to pull on a pair of jeans that had been super-comfy, and they wouldn’t go over my butt . I refuse to go back up a size, in fact I just donated all my old jeans to the Salvation Army. So obviously, I need to lose the weight.
South Beach worked really well for me last year, but I gained 10 lbs since Thanksgiving, after maintaining my weight since last March. Those bad habits crept in and really slammed me- I’ve never gained weight that fast in my life, outside of pregnancy!
So last week I went back on South Beach. The first few days were rough but I stuck to it and by the weekend I’d lost 3 lbs! I also got back up on that treadmill. I did about a mile each time, and it felt really good. By the weekend I was pumped! The weather was spring-like, I was getting those jeans back on my body! Other things were going well, too. We met with our builder and we’re going to be able to start construction on the addition as soon as we get the permits. I set up a new chore schedule for the boys and they were following through with minimal hassle.
Pat & I went off to a local home show and got some great info and ideas for the deck we’re putting on, and I got to talk to hot tub sales people as a person who actually plans to buy a hot tub, wheee!
It’s all good.
So on our way home from the home show Pat wanted to stop for coffee. I was tired and really wanted to head home, but he looked at me like this :frown: because he really wanted to sit and hang out before we headed back to the kids. He convinced me. I figured I would order a skim mocha latte and it would be a nice treat.
Walked in the door and fell to the floor. Literally. My ankle gave out, or I tripped, I dunno, but down I went. And in a room full of people - no one but Pat even noticed. Sheesh.
Luckily I was ok- just a bruised ankle that still hurts. Plus I kinda let myself have a chocolate cupcake (thanks to my friends Robin & Lisa who told me how good they were…!)
So no treadmill this week, but I did get right back on the diet after the cupcake. And this is going to be a good week, too.
