Time for a new category

Saturday, April 15th, 2006

The college search is over, Ramapo it is. And there was much rejoicing, followed by temporary stunned silence when a letter arrived from 2nd semi-finalist school offering an additional $1000 per year in scholarship funds beyond what they’d already offered (which, over 4 years, would save us about twenty-five thousand dollars over the costs at Ramapo :faint: .)

But we took deep breaths and remembered it’s not about the money, it’s about an education, and all of us are sure that Ramapo is the right place for Andy.

When he was 3 or 4 years old his aunt gave him this personalized towel. He chose the roadrunner theme.
He's a roadrunner...
Ramapo’s mascot is a roadrunner (in fact when I went there we just used the WB roadrunner on all the merchandise, but now they of course have their own little guy.)

monday update

Monday, April 10th, 2006

Nick got a nail stuck in his foot (he’s fine, no sign of lockjaw yet.)

Tim got his DS taken away yet again for bringing it to school (school has an unenforced rule against them, I enforce the rule because I’m not going to buy a new one when this one gets stolen/broken.)

Andy has still not chosen between Ramapo & TCNJ.

Pat is having fun in his new toy car. I haven’t driven it yet, perhaps tonight to go grocery shopping (whee).

I hadn’t realized exactly how sucky my monitor was until Pat convinced me to switch back to my old one. It may have a nasty beige case and a slightly curved screen but WOW was the color off on the other one!

Senior year stuff

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

I spent the morning helping to give out goodies (travel mugs, pens…) to the HS seniors as part of Project Graduation. They were all heading into the auditorium to get information about the prom, and we did our part to add to the chaos by checking off their names as they got their gifts. Not sure why we did that, I guess so they didn’t double up? Or maybe we’re supposed to track down the kids who weren’t there (and from what I could gather quite a few weren’t) and give them their mugs?

I listened in a little to the prom presentation. They played snippets from songs to help them choose a theme. Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight got a few groans (too sappy, I guess) and Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a Prayer turned into karaoke. I didn’t catch the rest, maybe I’ll find out from Andy later.

My senior prom theme was Best of Times by Styx. We really voted for Billy Joel’s Only the Good Die Young but it was vetoed by our principal Sr. Louise. Go figure.

It’s snowing and it’s sticking.

I can’t stand April snow. Especially when I’m supposed to go help chaperone a bunch of second graders on a walking field trip. It’s not a long walk at all, but it’s just nasty out there.

I’m hoping they’ll postpone, but it was already postponed from yesterday, when they were afraid it might rain (and it didn’t, in fact it was relatively pleasant yesterday. Even had sun.)

Oops!

Got this in my email today. Congratulations, Placeholder for winning team!

Be real funny if Florida wins tonight.
