Andy graduates

Friday, June 23rd, 2006

Andy had this huge smile on his face all night.

It’s been a crazy few days, wrapped around Andy’s HS graduation. All the time spent helping to put together Project Graduation seems to have paid off, but I’ll find out more later when he awakens from his recovery sleep.

I didn’t cry once during the ceremony, although a few times in the past few days I’ve come really close. I think it will all sink in when he heads to college in September.

I’m so proud of this kid.

About 20 seconds after I posted the PSE&G guy showed up. He tightened things, greased things, and now maybe my gas bill will go down!

sniff, sniff… you smell that?

The guy who will be doing the ductwork for our addition came out yesterday, and he noticed a very slight gas leak at a valve next to the furnace. I’ve thought I smelled gas down there on occasion, but then it goes away- the thing with slight gas leaks is sometimes you think it’s your imagination! And Pat never smelled it. But when I smelled the valve directly, it’s definitely there. Obviously not a high-risk situation, for all I know it could have been leaking since we had the furnace installed 2 years ago. Still, something that has to be dealt with.

So I called PSE&G this morning and hit 1 a couple times to report a “gas leak or other life-threatening emergency.” Got through to a human in about 30 seconds- not too bad, I guess. Told the guy it’s a very slight leak, didn’t want to end up with the fire department in the driveway. He told me to keep the area ventilated (ok, I’ll try…) and an emergency crew would be right over.

That was 30 minutes ago. Hopefully if I’d said “Gas is SPEWING iinto my BASEMENT HELP!” they would have been here much quicker.

…thankfully not my own. Or my husband. But maybe the kids feel differently ?
