Oops, forgot my recommendations for you! I enjoyed many of the ones you didn't italicize, so I won't recommend them all. I figure you'd know if you wanted to read Tolkien, Austen or Rowling. But I will say that "Pillars of the Earth" is one of the best books I ever read, and I also loved "The Secret Life of Bees."

A rather eclectic mix, I must say! Some are true classics, and some are what I would consider "beach reads." I believe that most of the more recent ones will never be on anyone's list twenty years from now. Perhaps it's just some individual's list of favorite books?

Obviously, a lot of them are mine, too, since I've read over half of them! Then again, there are at least ten on there that don't ring a bell with me at all. And several of the ones that I've read that I didn't care for. But a fun meme, and I'm doing mine now!
